Earth Day got me thinking...

I admit it, I don't watch a lot of television. But half the reason for that is because it just sucks up hours of my day. You turn it on to watch one thing, and BAM there goes 3 hours! And I NEVER turn it on during the day, that's just asking for trouble! But I cut myself some slack on my birthday and chilled out to a bit of Oprah and Dr Phill, and I'm really glad I turned Oprah on because it was all about Earth Day (22 April).

So it got me thinking about how we run this house and what more can we do for our planet.

Things we already do:
Recycle
Environmentally Friendly dish washing liquid
Free range eggs
Organic Shampoo & Conditioner
All natural skin care: http://tinyurl.com/cvfklx

Things we can start doing:
More compost matter in the green waste bin
Buying Fair trade coffee
Homemade vegie wash: http://tinyurl.com/d67ctx
Unbleached toilet paper
Switch brands of Washing powder
TURN MORE LIGHTS OFF!

What more can you do?

A Band to watch out for!

While I promised myself that I would keep this blog strictly business and relevant to my working life, I can't help but take a moment to bask in the glory of my (future famous) house mates.

After a case of what I like to call, Big Fish, Small Pond syndrome, in their home town of Christchurch, New Zealand, they took a punt and together, moved over to Sydney, Australia. It's certainly a punt that is paying off for them, because they are, as I write this, on their way over to SXSW.

So I'd like to pay tribute to the guys, because they make me so proud. Here is a snippet of their promo tape that can be found on YouTube.

They are Phyllasoma (pronounced fy-la-so-ma)

Video length: 2.07 sec

Interesting video from Pixar University

I'm on a massive learning curve right now, an information sponge - sure to hit information overload in the very near future - but for now, I'll just keep soaking up as many cutting edge, innovative learnings as I possibly can.

This video comes from www.edutopia.org, and is presented by Randy Nelson, who is the Dean at the Pixar University ("Pixar has a University? I didn't know that!" I hear you say). Another interesting fact you'll notice when you check out Edutopia, you'll notice that it is The George Lucas Education Foundation ("George Lucas has an Educational Foundation?") Uh-huh :D

This was originally brought to my attention by staysmall's posterous. Thanks!
